A pivot door turns on a pivot in the floor and the head of the frame, rather than hanging from hinges down one side. There are no hinges on show, and the door swings through its opening in one clean movement.
It makes a statement entrance, and inside the house it divides a space without closing it off.
Pivot doors can be glazed as one sheet or divided with glazing bars, and set beside fixed steel screens to fill a wider opening.

Inside, a pivot door keeps the light and the sightlines while still closing a room off: a kitchen from a dining room, a study from a hallway.
Pair it with a steel partition for a full-height wall of glass with a door that disappears into it.

Size and glass
Most of our units are under 2.7 m × 1.2 m per sash, and we can make larger ones. Talk to us about your opening. Internal doors generally don’t have the same size limits as external ones.
Choose the slim W20 profile, or W40 or W50 TB for double glazing with a minimum 22 mm IGU, in toughened, laminated or decorative glass.

Drawn, made and delivered
Every door is drawn for your approval first. Manufacturing starts when you approve the final drawings.
12–18 weeks from approval of final drawings, depending on job size and unit types. Timing depends on international shipping of materials.
Pivot and door hardware is quoted once it’s specified. We deliver nationwide, from Northland to Otago, and work with trusted glaziers.
Questions about steel pivot doors
We regularly make hinged, pivot, sliding and bifold doors as well as side hung, awning and sliding windows.
External units are restricted to certain sizes for example if the wind zones are above very high. A majority of our units are under 2.7m x 1.2m per sash, however we can accommodate for larger sizes, please contact us for any larger units. Internal units generally don't have the same restrictions.
We have a selection of options that we use regularly but until the job hardware is specified, we cannot quote on it. All standard items such as hinges, rollers and tracks are included.
We can accommodate for a wide variety of single glazed glass, safety glass where it is required by regulations. So that includes toughened, laminated, decorative such as broad reeded or other types. In double glazing we can do any type of combination that you would normally see in other types of joinery such as low E and argon filled if required.
Our lead times vary depending on the workload and time of year. Please call us to get a more accurate timeframe but generally it is 12–18 weeks from approval of your final drawings (when manufacturing starts), depending on job size and unit types.Timing depends on international shipping of materials.
